'In Shadow the Light Prevails'

Shadows shape our landscape and show that light is present. Their direction adds depth and gives us an understanding of distance and shapes.
Photography is reliant on light and shadows for the creation of an image in much the same way as our own vision. The laws of perspective that govern the travel of light and its interaction with objects are revealed to us in the form of shadows. By shooting towards the light, it creates a shadow/silhouette on the film. This unexposed area free from light is like a blank canvas; when juxtaposed with the reflected light from the object it suggests how light and shadows coexist and are un-detachable when revealing and allowing us to understand the world around us.
